We wish everyone wonderful wishes for all the best in
2006.
What a way to start the new year huh, BUMS UP!
Sorry but that is the way it is with these guys. Their heads never
come out of the food bowls. This was noon time, Jo came with a big
bowl of pumpkin bread mixed with 6 different kinds of fresh cooked
beans. Well as you can see, she gave up trying to get it into our
dishes!! We were right in the bowl and not coming up for air.
Jo gave up and left us the bowl! Kito's proving he eats his
weight! He normally will weigh in anyways from 155 to 160 grams.
Poor Kito, we have sent his Mom all his goodies, cage,
foods, toys, and no Kito. You see, way over there in Goose
Bay it's darn cold. There are no heated cargo's that fly there in
the winter. So dear Kito is now looking for a new wonderful family
and Chris and Guy are waiting for one of our new babies that are only a
week old. This is Kito next door here taking his bath by the way
(formally known as Butterball!!). He is one happy, chubby,
adorable, velcro baby and we feel so bad that Chris and Gus have to wait
for the new babies.

Believe me folks when I tell you the above picture is NOT the norm!!!
This is Chubber chewing on his coco ball. Precious is just having
the darnest time trying to figure out why Chubber won't share his toy
and let him in on the fun too! Normally you would not see a
lovebird and a senegal this chummy. Precious knows no better and
figures (like most other lovebirds!) that he is just as big as they are.
Believe me when I say he knows when to get out of the way and can do so
quite quickly!! These folks have two senegals, a red belly and two
lovebirds that all share the same play room.

Hi Jo: What was
the name of that little garbage-can shaped robot in Star
Wars? Was it R2-D2??? When this little bird sits on my
shoulder he has a whole string of chuckles and whistles and
clicks and clacks that sound just like that robot. I'm
almost ready to give him a different name. AreToo. What
do you think? Artoo? I like it. Mugger is okay, but this
is not a mugger, he's a sweety. We just ended our day and
he's gone to his bed content.
JO! I just love my little girl so much! You've done such a marvelous
job of socializing her. I had heard that poicephalus could be shy and
nervous and I was so afraid that she would be stressed out with all the
changes but we hit it off right away. She is fearless and will go to
anyone male or female(however her distinct preference for me is
flattering even if it is only because she is most familiar with me) And
you weren't just kidding about the pea pod thing! She gives herself a
pea pod beard and when I laugh at her for it she gives me a puzzled
'what? do I have peas on my face or something?', look which of course
only makes it funnier! Saturday Night I went to the airport to pick up
my new pet and less than 24 hours later I discovered that in fact she
owned me! And I don't mind a bit. Thank you so much. When you have a
moment if you could send to me some of those recipes you mentioned I
would make good use of them, Thanks again, Rhegan
Ricardo [Please call me Ricky - only my new Dad ever calls me
Ricardo!] is settling in very well and is so good natured. He is
very similar to the little male Hahns in this respect - it must be
something to do with the way you bring them up!

Kito, aka Ricky below with his new friend) Also pictures of the
little male Hahns with his new friend)

Our Caiques are now here, had all their testing's done, nice and
healthy, and oh so funny! We are way ahead of ourselves and
have taken numerous pictures of them to use to make their Nursery
Logo below. One thing about these clowns, they LOVE to eat,
they LOVE to make a mess and they LOVE to play! Small bodies
but huge birds!
And now for pictures of our newest baby members.

It is not common for lovebirds to talk as we all know. This
little whiteface creamino below thinks she is one of us! She has a
voice all her own and uses it! Nite, Nite is what we hear most
afternoons! Identical to the way Jo says it.

Then we have our meyers. They figure every time that front door
opens, it's an invitation to come out and show off. Jo's busy
trying to clean their cage while they are displaying and showing off on
the top. She gave up trying to keep them in while she is cleaning.

MacGinnis our male brown head parrot unfortunately folks has been
diagnosed with a tumor on his intestinal tract. Much to risky to
operate on. Jo had him put to sleep and x-rayed last week as the
vet had determined there was a mass. We were hoping to be able to
operate until the x-rays were done and location of tumor was determined.
We were extremely fortunate to have a friend in Ontario who pointed us
right away to a person having a brown head male, 4 years old. We
contacted the chap and Cooper is arriving this week!!! You don't
think Jo's not excited to think she may get brown headed babies yet!!! |
