Has everyone got their copies of June edition of Bird Talk.

If so, then you will notice this picture of Kyle and his linnies on the back cover.  We also have two more pictures coming in the July edition of Bird Talk of our linnies.

How about Pickles down yonder here.  His Mom is giving him puter lessons.  Jo got an email today, she was all excited as she's sure Pickles is going to talk.

Then we got Jet, the little s/f violet boy who's going to live in Toronto soon with Jade.  Jade left here last Dec, remember.  Sitting with Jet also is another s/f violet going to live with Lavina who went to NFLD in December as well.  Third and last guy peeking in front of the other two is a d/f violet going to live in Montreal.  They are down to 1 and a bit feedings, so should not be long now.

And oh my gosh, we cannot forget all our little oinkers and oinkletts!  Man oh Mr. Man can they eat!  They devour their veggies like it's their last meal.  Lots of them are leaving this week.  Jet left yesterday and it was cute.  His Mom was waiting to pick him up at the airport right along with another couple waiting to pick their new puppie up.  New puppie's name .......Jet!

Please folks we have to tell you a sad story now, to make you aware of how easy it can happen.  We sold two of our baby linnies 2 years ago to a couple not far away.  They adored them.  The Dad laid down the other night, not intending to fall asleep.  Unfortunately he did fall asleep.  Nicky (was her name) cuddled into Dad and never woke up.  Dad was devastated.  He called Jo, just sobbing.  It can happen that easy.  These little guys, wanting to be close to you, don't realize the dangers of your rolling on them.  This is the second time this has happened to one of Jo's babies.  Please don't nap with your babies!!  Luckily Jo has had a couple folks cancel their requests for linnies due to illnesses in their family, so he was able to come and get another baby to replace Nicky.  He didn't want Bender, his other linnie, being lonely.  That was quite cute.  He really wanted a sky blue.  Well Jo had one sky blue, but this little fart was having NOTHING to do with Bender!  As long as they were eating they were quite content together, take away the food dish and look out!  So Jo gets a little olive and puts in with Bender.  That was love at first sight!  The little olive gets on the perch, crawls right over and cuddles right into Bender like they had been friends all their lives.  It was too cute.  Dad was happy, Bender was happy, little olive was definately happy, and so was Jo!

Next week is when all the happenings start up again here.  We have numerous clutches due to hatch next week.  One in particular has Jo on pins and needles in anticipation.  Worse than waiting for Christmas she says.

Sophie and Quincy were caught having delight BEFORE breakfast again this morning, their nest is made, so we'll see what happens there.  Of course this will be their first clutch, and first clutches Jo always tries not to get TOO excited about, in case they did not get it right first time round.  Course this morning the meyers delayed everyone's breakfast by a good 20 minutes, so they sure were taking their time!   I guess that tells you the meyers are the pair that has her waiting so patiently huh!

Waiting patiently alright, they are now sitting on eggs!  BUT, being their first clutch Jo never counts anything until they hatch

Now Jo wants to know if anyone call tell her what species of baby we have smilin here!  Little Dakota here is sitting tall to let his supper digest before going back in the brooder.

Well O.K., we'll tell you's.  With a big THANK YOU  to parents Guiseppe and Belladonna, we are now feeding their beautiful clutch of three babies.   Being first time parents and all, they were not doing well at all in the feeding dept. of these babies.  We have been not only feeding since 1 and 2 days old, we had to assist in the hatching of Lil' Pippin as we call her.  They are all doing wonderful and will be ready for new homes in September.  Please feel free to email or call Jo if you would like to inquire as to their availability.  Like the others, they have their own Nursery Page and we will be keeping that updated with their stages of development.

How do you like the saga of Jade and Jet next door here!   They are becoming buddies, but it took a few days!!  It got to the point I looked forward to Daniela's emails as they always gave me such a huge grin!  Miss Bossy Jade rules that roost, ain't no doubt!

Then we have Lavina who went to live in NFLD a couple months ago.  She got her new friend and right away they hit it off.  As you can see next door here, she is busily preening him up from his long flight to her.  If only Daniela had been so lucky!!!

Lots and lots of linnies are gone and settled in their new homes now as well.  We still have a couple here looking for new homes as we had a lady that had to cancel her babies due to a serious illness with her son.

Hello Joanne

Well the little munchkin has been here a week.  Had a break-through yesterday when he was out on my shoulder mid afternoon and after about 15 minutes of couch play he came over and snuggled up against my neck and went to sleep.  I had to call Al over to check on him as he was so quiet and I didn't want to move.  Lucky my book was close at hand so he had a nap while I read.  I think he's gotten use to the time change now.  I cover him usually around 8 and in the morning he's just raring to get out, heck with breakfast he wants a shoulder ride.  At this time he's so excited that he gets in the back of my hair and makes this funny noise and keeps on pushing on my neck.  He's starting to play more with the toys in his cage now.  Seems to like those crunchy balls that hang from plastic chain, he just shreds those puppies up.  Just wanted to let you know he's doing great and gives us plenty of laughs.  Will send a picture of him in his jolly ball as soon as I get one.  Best wishes   Gail

(by the way, the munchkin's name is Lil Bud ...too cute)

Hi Joanne

He is totally adorable.  Chirped to me all the way home.  So much so that Mark was trying to figure a way to get him out of the cage so he could be with his new mom.  Opened the door once home and soon he pooped right out.  All of us even Trynity held on to him.   At the moment he is upstairs in Favien's room sleeping.  Surprised me that he didn't cuddle into his happy hut.  But he is content on his branch.  He even oversaw taking baby fish from one tank to the next.

He is so sweet.  I talked to him all the way home and he chattered back.  Doesn't have a name yet.  Quinn likes Cedric.  Someone else like Neo.  One likes Gizmo.  Mark likes Petey.  SO we shall just have to wait and see what turns up.

He loves that mash stuff and makes the most interesting nibble noise when munching on apples.  Oh yah Nibbles that was a name too.

I will type more to let you know about tomorrow.  I know that you told me he was sociable but I wasn't prepared for how friendly he was.

Loved totally already.
Kiersten

Hi Joanne,

We are just loving our little guy.  And finally I am happy to say, after two whole weeks of having him he has a name.  Yes can you believe it.

We struggled with this.  There was Laertes from Shakespeare's Hamlet.  You know the character that said "to thine self be true."  That lastest about a day.  There was Gizmo but not all of us liked it.  There was P2, Jeeves, Finnigan, and Fidget.  Fidget lastest about 2 days.  I was starting to get heartbroken poor thing doesn't have a name.  So I had a name the bird contest.  If the name is picked there was a dozen cookies for the winner.

Suddenly I had wingshot, freckle, nym (short for nymcompoop), pidge, Dobie, and many more.  Then today Dylan comes up with Marvin.  You know Mavin the Martin from Looney Toons.  The little alien guy who is green and wears a black roman hat with the yellow duster on top.  And all of us love it.   Even Quinn can say the name which was of importance to Mark and I.

Surprisingly, Marvin actually responds to the name.  How crazy is that?  Shall send a photo of him soon.

Kiersten.

p.s. the boys loved the newest photos.  think they shall type you soon as they have lots to tell you.

Those are just a few excerpts from emails  to share with you. We just received an email from Rose, one of the editors of Bird Talk Magazine.  There are two more pictures of us with our linnies in the July Edition on the stands now.  Apparently she is already getting calls from folks  about the pictures!  Hopefully my copy will be in tomorrow's mail so we can see it!   We didn't write the article, she is just using our pictures

Rectangular Callout: My carrot!

Jet is getting more vocal now, by himself on the window perch (Thank goodness I had 2 window perches!!!), while Jade sits on the other perch. They are chirping at each other, and this is what I imagine what they are saying:

Jet - "I hate this place"

Jade - "You don't like it, then leave"

Jet - "Shut up"

Jade - "No, you shut up"

Jet - "You shut up"

and so on.....*sigh*, big *sigh*.....

Now Jade is with me and Jet is sitting on Kurt's shoulders.

Daniela

He is such a sweetie. I had him out and he was being ever so cute. Lavinia absolutly loves him. Started grooming him and everything. She followed him everywhere he went. Of course I took pictures of them with the webcam. :)
He is so handsome too. What colours! :D I'm so happy. lol.

Thanks for such wonderful birds!
