NOVEMBER JOURNAL |
|
|
Hi Everyone, Novembers here already and you
all know what that means. That's right, Christmas
is right round the corner! Jo and Lou got their Mr. Frosty out
this weekend. The new Mom of Snippy is going to maybe make Jo some
fancy sign to put up by Frosty.
This week I get to squawk, means Jo has me parked right smack behind her and the computer and I ain't none to happy bout it let me tell ya. Neither is Barn. You guessed it, Queen Betty here folks. Just cause she caught me trying to get some action from Barney, she gets all upset with me. Gosh, it was last Wednesday she took my baby, isn't that break enough!! Got us parked right in the Living Room, center of all traffic, hopin this will stop us (O.k., me)! Even heard her on the phone talking with Marlene, that's the vet girl, and I guess Marlene's doing some research to see if Jo can give me something to calm my hormones. Imagine!!! So squawk, your right, that's an understatement if you could hear me and Barn the last couple days. Then to add insult to injury what does Jo have sitting pretty on her shoulders right now, right smack in front of my nose, but one of those baby blue linnie girls. Spoiled, I would hope to kiss a duck that one is. His sibling got sent to a guy in Edmonton last Friday and now she's even more spoiled than she was before. Hum Bug!! Guess I'll never get out of this house in this room!! So ya see those handsome devils next door here. So what, I know they are not my babies, but that's O.K., I can still brag them. That yellow girl there Lou thinks is a lacewing and those other three handsome dudes are whiteface guys and girls. Rumor has it that Charlotte and Ray are coming to visit with Jo and Lou this weekend. Jo's waiting to see how in the world Charlotte is going to get out of her Nursery without one of those fellows in her purse. That would be a first, that's for sure. Charlotte loves her lovebirds! But then that's not fair cause she and Mr. Ray also have one of the linnies out of our Nursery and they just love him to pieces. They called him Stuart, he talks and yes, they know it's a boy, cause they had him sexed. Then we know Mr. Ray also likes his cockatiels as they have two of them spoiled as well. And how about all those babies sitting in the window. Now in that picture there's one of my youngin's. The American cinnamon, ya that's my girl, with the violet rump no less! You can tell the snow is here, for some reason they love sitting in the window when the snow is here. Then see the picture here of the "big" cockatiel and the "little" linnie. Now that's an odd couple. Please people's, do be warned that this may not always be the case for a linnie and a cockatiel to get along. This little linnie is one of Jo's that a lady named Erica from Moncton took home last week This cockatiel, his name is Kiwi by the way, is also very, very tame and only about 7 months old. He came with Erica to pick up the linnie, so Jo knows this first hand. Really he is a sweetheart. Erica called Jo the other night to tell her these two get along just famously. Kiwi has taken the fatherly bond over this little girl. Used to be Kiwi would squawk and squawk and squawk some more whenever his Mom and Dad would leave the room. Now Erica tells Jo, he doesn't squawk anymore when they leave the room, he squawks if they take the linnie out of his eye sight!! Then there's that Miss Betsy out in the Resting Room. Not fair she still gets to get out. I can see her flying round out there. Story's far from done, but Jo's got a 9 o'clock appointment.
Personal, don't worry Jo would not send one of us out in the cold 9
o'clock at night and you can be sure no one gets to visit with us at
this ungodly hour. Be back soon
O.K. everyone, Listen Up, cause I'm back. Queen
Betty in case you have forgotten. Well Jo and Lou just broke down
and just gave me and Barny a roosting box.
Bout time I say. O.K. where was I in this story anyways. Oh ya, Miss Betsy. Well wasn’t that
show off out again today. Jo’s getting much better at tricking her
back home though. Today Candy got out same
time as Miss Betsy so Jo was curious to
watch and see what happened there. Miss Betsy
being in breeding mode and Candy being
another male fischer never know what could happen. Well Jo was sure
surprised when Miss Betsy was not
interested whatsoever in looking Candy
over. Jo was doing a heavy duty clean out there today and I think poor Candy
just wanted to get back home to Mango. Didn’t fizz Miss
Betsy one bit Then we should tell you what Mork did
today. Jo was doing a clean on their house and
Mork figured it was time to go for a fly I
guess. Out he goes. Jo saw this, but she
thought he stayed in the Resting Room. She
closed the door right away to the Main house and then went looking for Mork.
She looked, and looked, and got down on her knees looking everywhere.
She was stumped. A linnie she is used to hiding on her, but not a
lovebird. So she leaves to go into the Main house to get something and
what does she see way, way up in the rafters but Mork
sitting on the top of a chandaler. The panic started. Jo has to
get him home and quick before Louis saw him in the Main house and before
he might take a dive and land on the hot stove. Jo never did tell Lou
yet, she’s waiting till he reads the Journal. He will blow a cork, you
think Jo panics, you never seen Lou yet! Snippy, thats the green linnie remember,
he got to ride around on Jo’s shoulders a lot today as well. I’m
tellin you, it’s just not fair, me being stuck in this dang Living
Room. So up in the Nursery things are pretty
quiet this week. Lots of babies still but they are mostly half growed
up. Those three cinnamons she’s got up there are sure giving Jo a hard
time. They are just so friendly and loveable with Jo, but they instigate
and get the other babies going crazy. The little cinnamon violet
whiteface is just a concern thats for sure. Everyone’s sitting in the
window all nice and happy and what does she do but start poking and
getting everyone stirred up. They all fly off and she’s still sitting
there pretty all by herself. And nosey, in everyones business but her
own she is. Then theres those fischers with the red beaks up there, Pig
Pen she’s got three pieds and a cobalt, Moombeam
well that yellow beauty in the picture is one of her’s. Oh if only Jo
could keep more she’d be keeping that pied whiteface and that yellow
beauty in a heartbeat. Says she has never seen a couple more adorable.
Then Moombeams got a pied as well as
cobalts up there. Remember she has the two babies with genetic disorders
and they are just so, so adorable. One has already left to go to his new
home and the other is leaving this week. Matter of fact, the lady that
has her name on one of the baby fischers, Jo is giving him to her so he
will have a good home. He sits there and looks up, with his little head
tilted sideways, with those big eyes, it is just too cute. November 10, 2002
Well folks, we only gots time to give you a little of the chatter going
on here today. Rumor has it that Charlotte and Mr. Ray. made
it to our Tiny Rascals
on Friday. And folks not only did she take Jo's violet
cobalt pied beauty of Jessica and Lucas's, she took Jo's violet
cinnamon whiteface of Sundance and Cassidy's. Poor Jo's up there
in the Nursery Room with her saying, Charlotte whatever will Ray say to
taking two?? Well Folks, click here on Charlotte's
Story and see what Ray, Charlotte and
the Flock had to say to Jo today.
Here we are again guys. It’s November 13th
and Little Miss What’s My Name am here to
talk. What’s my Name, you ask. Well I don’t know yet, as Jo’s
waiting for Gail to email her my name when they make up their mind on
it. I’m a nice light green linnie of Matt and
Mattie and Gail’s gonna be my new Mom. Her and her
daughter came and paid me a visit yesterday. They already have me a
little girl there called Sky. That’s me over there being
preened and loved right to pieces by those lovebirds. Please, again, don’t
anyone think this works with all linnies. I only gets along with them as
I was raised with them from the day Jo pulled me for hand feeding. But
we sure all get alone just Jim Dandy. Poor Skippy,
in the apartment down below here, is none to happy about this.
Ya see, Jo had taken me and put me in with her as a . We were
the best of buddies right away, but I guess that is not what Jo wanted,
so we got separated after only two days. Jo doesn’t want anyone else
bonding with me as I’m already gonna have a new . And remember
Skippy is a month and a half older than me,
so Jo figured it would be cruel to let him become all lovey dovey with
me, then take me away from her. My little Fischer s are some
kinda cute huh. Two of these fellows are going concerns as well, but Jo’s
been spending extra time with the youngest fellow as he’s really shy.
She tucks him under her sweater than takes him round the house with her,
talking, cuddling, patting and sooking him. He’s coming round. I hear
two of them are spoken for as well. Probably another couple weeks and
they’ll be gone. Oh well that’s O.K. cause they’ll be leaving same
time as me. Then how do you like the little poor American
cinnamon, all shrivelled up. That baby girl just loves to bath.
Every time Jo looks she’s in the water dish. Then ya got that pied
baby whiteface up there in the tree all bathed up as well. He/She don’t
live here no more. No sir, that’s one that Charlotte got! I hear the
little yellow in the tree is leaving this week as well. And how bout
that one suspended in air?? I think he just realized his feet are not
touching the ground! Jo’s had Lou busy making us all some new platforms and roosting
boxes. Jo likes these platforms as she can put leafy vegies and fruits
on them for us, without them falling on the floor. Also gives us a place
to rest our feeties at snooze time if we want. Jo won’t give the Happy
Huts to our parents, only us babies get them. Guess the adults figure
they make wonderful spots for nest building! So they get roosting boxes.
If funny to watch them take the paper up there, figuring for sure they
can make a nest up there somehow. Lots and lots of parents down there now I hear going thru their
molts. Feathers everywhere. The vacuum gets a run for it’s money this
time of year. And eat, oh my gosh, Jo can’t keep the dishes full. She
figured she’ really confuse them all the other day and gave them
seeds, popcorn, pellets and bath dishes all at once in the morning. That’s
like two and three treats all in one day. She didn’t give them vegies
that day though. But Jo figured for sure at supper time, their pellet
dishes would still be full, that they would have spent the day eating
seeds and popcorn. Well some maybe, but she sure had to still fill a lot
of pellets dishes again. They all sure love their Roudybush. Except
would you believe Queen Betty and Barny.
They are the only lovebirds in this Aviary that will not eat Roudybush.
Jo was surprised to say the least. As a little update on them,
they are still sitting pretty in the Living Room and Jo's not sure what
to think of her. She and Barney love the extra attention you can
be sure, they just soak that right up, but Man or Mr Man does she howler
and scream at the top of her lungs at chatter times. Thinks maybe
they can't hear her out in the Resting Room unless
she screams. Jo says she can't help it, her
and Barn have to stay in the Living Room for awhile yet. It
has curbed her hormones, (for awhile anyway) and that's what Jo wants. I hear the Breeding Hut is all painted
but still airing out. They have to make GOOD and SURE that ALL the fumes
are gone. I heard tomorrow they are going to put a bag of charcoal in
there to soak up fumes. Well don’t know bout you folks, but I can smell pizza and that must
be Jo’s supper, cause they sure wouldn’t let me eat it! Hi everyone. November 19, 2002 and here we
are again. Christmas
is getting closer and closer and we are all wondering here what Jo and
Lou’s gonna get all us guys. Boy’s
is that gonna cost them big time!!
If anyone out there’s looking for Happy Huts for their guys, Jo
has all kinds here she’ll send you.
She’s sends them all over, right down to Florida in USA.
$7.00 each, which includes shipping and handling will get you
one. I see now she’s made all those babies Santa Claus ones. It’s me here, Cuddles
talking. I’m a little sky
blue linnie girl who is going to Jo’s grandson, Jesse,
today. He gave me that name as I would be most content to just
sit and cuddle all day long. Jo
says I’m just a little sweetheart.
Jesse has wanted one of us guys for his very own for a long time
now. The little green girl
sitting over there with the fischer is the girl going to live with
Sky in Fredericton when she is ready.
She was raised with 3 fischers and 3 pied lovebirds right from
the brooder at 10 days old till tonight.
The fischers still love her (probably cause she’s the same
color!) but all of a sudden last night one of the pieds took a dislike
for her, so they got separated. She’s
now sharing an apartment with me. I
like her O.K. Me, I’m
kinda the quiet type, not her. She
just wants to run and run and go all day long.
If she had her way, she’d be out with Jo all day long.
Her, she don’t sit still for too long.
Skippy, she’s still here too and
just as friendly as can be, but she doesn’t like hands.
If she’s on the floor, she’ll do her step up onto your hand
no problem, but if she’s on her drawbridge, she’s much prefer to
jump onto your arm, NOT your hand.
Jo does not try and force the issue, as she feels that could just
make her worse. Says
everyone has hang ups and that’s hers. Me and Sky’s friend here, we don’t care.
Long as Jo’s gonna bring us out with her, we’ll do our step
up onto her fingers right tout swit!! So I guess you can see
from the pictures that yesterday was popcorn day!
Just ain’t nothing like it….we love our popcorn!
Jo thinks those platforms that everyone has now are just great,
as she fills them right up with popcorn and it’s not on the floor so
quick as when she used to have to put it in dishes. Even though we all
get our bowls of veggies every day, she also uses our platforms now for
putting our dried fruits and leafy veggies like kale leafs and all those
other leaf veggies. Keeps
it off the floor as well as gives them something to play with!
Of course they take the odd bite or two which keeps Jo happy.
The linnies will pick them right up with their feet and eat them.
Jo watches the lovebirds HOLD it down with one foot to keep it in
place and then munch. Jo’s Breeding
Hut still has not aired out enough to put anyone back there yet
and who goes to nest this past week but Sundance
and Cassidy again! Jo
says why them, it’s definitely NOT their turn.
The others can wait, why can’t they?
Anyways Jo’s been watching Cassidy.
He’s such a good little helper.
Sundance shreds the paper into nice
long thin strips and then Cassidy goes,
takes them, and tucks them nice and neat into his little rump and
carries into the nest for her. Whoever
says males don’t help out the wives??
Then ya got Flo there sitting on a
whooping SEVEN eggs. We’ll see how many hatch out of them. Jo’s going to call
Marlene again today on Queen Betty and see
if she found out anything for her yet.
Jo caught them in action yesterday and put a stop to it in a big
hurry. Jo’s at her wits
end with her. Nothing, just
absolutely nothing is going to stop that one.
She’s trying to carry paper up to her Roosting Box, course it
just all falls out the bottom. She’s
not swelling up yet, Jo is just hoping nothing has happened when she
hasn’t’ been looking! But
that one is one smart cookie. Her
and Barney are in a huge flight that both
side doors open right up. The
knob to turn to open the side doors are halfway down the side walls.
Well Queen Betty knows exactly where
those knobs are, and when she sees you come near her home, she’s right
at that spot thinking, just maybe she’s gonna get out!
Fat chance of that happening in the Living Room with the wood
stove going full blast!! Whenever
Jo wants to put dishes in, she has to trick her into going down to the
other side as she’s trying every trick in the book to get out!
Usually Jo will get Lou to keep her busy while she does the
changing of dishes. See the picture next door
here of the little yellow pied cinnamon.
That’s Queen Betty’s last cutie.
Remember Jo gave her a bunch of dud eggs to sit on and this
little girl is the only one hatched.
Course that means she is just going to be one little spoiled
rotten little lovebird growing up all by herself and no one to bond with
but JoJo. Jo is just
mystified by her feathering so far, as Betty has produced many, many,
many mutations so far, but this little mystery is a first. So as you see this little one is not a month old
and she’s at it again that Betty!!
Jo’s always saying the same thing, she has one pair of linnies
like this Mattie and Matt and one pair of
lovebirds, if she had more she’d go nuts!!
Does not matter what she does.
Changes cages, changes toys,
puts them to bed with the natural light and this time of year
here, that’s at 5 o’clock, only gets them up with the natural light
at around 7 a.m., nothing changes the mind of those two pairs!!
Course the Resting Room is all
windows on three walls so they get a lot of natural light, but during
the day, they need this.
Even in the Living Room, Betty and Barney
get covered at 6 p.m. and Jo and Lou mostly vacate the Living Room so
they will have piece and quiet, don’t matter!! Jo’s hopin to get the Breeding
Hut back together soon as she wants to put about five of those
pairs of linnies to nest. Their
all ready, just waiting for her.
Jo loves those linnie babies!
She’s hopin Opal and Archie have a
little boy in their clutch this time as they are going to keep him to
pair up and hopefully produce some creaminos down the line.
Then she’s got Sunset and Buster,
the normal and cobalt masked that she wants to put to nest as Jo finds
the normal masked just so beautiful!
Mork and Mindy and
Binge and Alley, the violet and slate masked,
have to wait till the new year to go to nest, even though Binge
and Alley have a Roosting Box and they take
so much paper into that Roosting Box daily, that falls down thru,
it looks like a mountain under them!
Sunset and Buster spend most of
their time sitting on TOP of their Roosting Box.
Then ya got Jessica and Lucas who
spend most of their time, chewing the backside off their Roosting Box!
Well I should say Lucas sits inside,
while Jessica chews the backside off! Jo also wanted me to say Thanks
to you’s all for signing her Guest Book.
Her and Lou just love reading all the comments and really
appreciate them. Now
Jo has to take me, of course, and says she’s going out to give all the
linnies their bath. Which means spraying them all.
Those guys, they would stay hanging upside down forever if Jo
would continue spraying them. They
are just dripping in water, but still they are hanging there, glued to
the sides of their homes, waiting for more.
Nana and Nigel, the slate
couple, one of them for some reason is not so fond of this spraying.
They come running to get sprayed, but soon as they feel the water
they run back. Then they
venture for a bit more and run back.
They continue like this for as long as Jo sprays.
Jo’s not so sure if it’s Nana or Nigel that’s
not so keen on spraying as they both look so alike.
One things for sure, one of them just love it, the other is kinda
shy of it. Those two are
pretty quiet anyways. Jo
says they just sit there like lumps on logs.
She’s gonna do some rearranging later this week and see if
maybe they might like a different location better.
Then you got Foxy, the only lovebird
out of all them here, that when he sees that spray bottle, he comes a
running. Jo really wishes
she had a movie camera to capture him in action. He is a silver fellow
and just sits there and quivers and shakes and fluffs all up, loving
every single minute of his soaking!
Jo says theres no words to describe him, he is just too cute.
So all the lovebirds, including Flo and
Foxy got bath dishes, but Foxy still wants his spray. Then Jo has to get Jesse’s new home all ready
for his Cuddles so we had better close this
Journal for today and get it ready for him. Hi Folks, it's November 28, 2002 today and
that means Christmas is not far off. Jo had a lady come today from
Dartmouth, N.S. and purchase her Christmas present from her
boyfriend. Bet ya can't guess what. O.K. we'll tell
you. Little Mr. TRA48, a really beautiful pied baby of Pig Pen and
Jesse's. Oh by the way, this is Sassy
Face talking by the way. I is the little cinnamon
slate pied you see in the picture next door of Betty's.
I'm spoiled rotten as I have a home all by myself and of course have Jo
wrapped tight as can be around my little toes. Would you like to
hear how I come by the title of Sassy Face.
Jo had a lady and her sweet 4 year old daughter come down last week from
Saint John area to pick out a lovebird for a family christmas
present. Well this little girl was just taken right away with me
(I kept trying to nibble her fingies) Dosen't she start calling me Sassy
Face. Jo thought it was just so cute how she just came
right out with "Your a little Sassy
Face", that she dubbed me with the name. Really I
gotta tell you, it's better than Dimples which is what she was calling
me! But Jo says I'm spoiled, I can't hold a candle to
her as she sits with her nice new laptop in her lap. HER christmas
present she says! That's her excuse for the Journal
being late this week. She still does not have the photo
software set up on it yet that she uses to do our website.
Just forwarning you all it may be a couple days or so before you see
some nice new pictures of us. And boys am I cute! Nothing bashful
about me! So Jo told me to make sure I tell you that she also
has to pull her socks up and get our Babies Page updated. We now
have new green linnie babies and Flo and Foxy's babies are hatching as
well this week. The linnies are anywheres from 1 to 4 days old and
there are four of them, so what does that tell you. Almost one a
day for young Mattie and Matt. Then she's got Sundance and Cassidy
laying. Those two are just too funny. Jo was telling me today that
she was down there watching them and laughing. Sundance shreds the
paper and then Cassidy plays tug of war with her, trying to get the
paper to tuck into his own rump!! Don't think he realizes he's the
Dad and gets to sit back ... "for now". Jo soaked some small willow twigs and branches for Sunset
and Buster. She tied them to the side of their home and put
a nesting box up for them. Now she sits back to see what they will
do. She's saying this could be interesting, as Sunset
is supposed to be a female and Buster a
male. The interesting part is that Sunset is feeding Buster and it
should be the other way round. Lou also made some more of those platform things and now we all have one. Jo had a great hoot yesterday, when all those adult lovebirds down there were trying to roll in their big leaves of kale and then playiing peek a boo out the curls. Then she watched them just tearing at the stalks of the kale, just like she had not fed them in a week. She said no one would ever believe that they each had a bowl of pellets, a big dish of chopped broccoli, corn, peas, brown rice all blended with CeDe and cereal. Guys this is a short Journal I know, but Jo says she wants to go get started on setting up December's Journal with some nice christmas stuff. |
