JARDINES / MEYERS AUGUST 5 Hatch Date: May 24, 2008 Hatch Date: May 25, 2008 Band No.: AACC 2008 18 Sex: Male Date available for new home: Mid September RESERVED MEYER BABIES Hatch Date: May 25, 2008 Band No.: AACC TRA 2008 41 Sex: female Date available for new home: Mid August Availability: RESERVED We do NOT sell unweaned babies. We raise parrots as we so enjoy and love the feeding, watching the development and personalities grow. Each parrot is unique in their own way. I can't say we enjoy the late night feedings, but this is all part of the raising of these gems! Selling unweaned babies could not only be detrimental to the babies health if sold to a person or family not experienced with hand feeding, but would take away the very reason we do what we do here! Babies are allowed to leave our care for their new homes approximately 10-14 days after they have weaned completely. All our babies are 70% spoon fed, with the other 30% being fed with a pipette. We feed this way for two reasons. Number 1, spoon is so much more natural (but MESSY!) and Number 2, if a parrot should ever need meds for whatever reason, hopefully they would remember their raising and accept each readily. Spoons are also great for serving warm comfort foods, i.e. apple sauce or juice, etc. if you wish to continue spoiling your parrot and having that special time with them. Fledging - In our opinion it is critical that a parrot be allowed to properly fledge and be allowed to have freedom to master the art of percision landing, developing chest muscles, etc. For that reason our Babies have a Parrot Safe Room of their own full of toys, gyms, ropes, get-a-grips, jolly balls, etc. all suspended from the ceiling. They have at least 3-5 hours a day out of their cages to roam around free. Food, water and bath are always accessable in large dishes on top of cages. Babies are only clipped a few weeks before leaving our home. The first clippings from each baby are laminated with their DNA papers and Hatch Certificates, all for safe keeping in one spot. Foods - Babies are offered a wide range of foods as they develop. We believe the more they are exposed to as babies, the less fussy they hopefully could tend to become! Veggies, cooked, steamed and raw, fruits, bean mixtures, grain toasts, birdie breads, mashes, pellets, quality seed mixes with 40 some ingredients, eggs, soaked seed, treats and snacks. If you have a baby reserved and have a preference in pellet being served to them, please let us know. We normally offer Pretty Bird Harvest Gold, Harrisons and Zupreem as the staples, but can also offer Avian Entrees, Lafeber, Goldenobes, Scenic. Shipping - We do ship babies within Canada only, preferably via West Jet. They travel in an airline approved travel cage, complete with perch, foot toys, food dishes full of goodies. We then enclose this carrier in a box which we cut air holes out at either end. We feel this gives the bird added protection and security comfort from the elements of weather, poking fingers and folks looking in. The box is well labelled. We give the babies either Guardian Angel or Potent Brew (probiotics) a few days before we know they are travelling, to elevate stress. The cost of the shipping and carrier is the new owners responsibility to pay. This should be paid to Tiny Rascals as we will make all arrangements for you. We will not ship in extreme temperatures (either hot or cold). Visiting Us - If you live close by and wish to visit with your baby and/or shop at the store, you are more than welcome. We only ask that you call ahead to ensure we will be home! Babies are in bed by 7:30 p.m. so plan your visit accordingly! We are located at 40 Fred Roy Road, Grand Barachois, New Brunswick.
