Well as they say, better late than
never! So much going on, so much to do. Louis
has been working at getting the pond up and running,
finishing up the gazabo with power, front deck and all the
finishing touches. There is a side deck to go on it
yet to house the BBQ and lobster pot. Jo helped
him out with staining it. Not your typical looking
gazabo I know, but we wanted to maximize space!
Pond is cleaned up and running. Now to move our fire
pit to the backyard, make the walkways and DONE for the
year!!

I dont' think we shared this photo
with you yet. This was handpainted and sent to us as a
complete surprise by one of our customers of Healthy Bird
and who also purchased one of our senegal babies. She
has a beautiful pied senegal who now has one of our babies
to share his life with. We were just tickled
pink to receive this mug on a Monday morning, a great way to
start the week. This is painted of our rough, tumble
little Davey Boy, as we call him. Visit Wendy at
Flew The Coop Aviary or click onto the link that will take
you directly to her Avian and Equine Art Page. From
there you can go and visit with her family of parrots.
If you'd like to order your very own mug, plate, vase, don't
be shy!

We can personally vouch for her wonderful work.
This would be Arbie showing off his
stuff. He now has earned himself the name of Jabber
Box, as he never
stops talking!! There is nothing he does not repeat.
Now he is even answering himself. He yells for LOUIS
and
NICKY (the dog). You can hear him in the back yard,
most anywhere when he yells. So Louis would answer him
when
he yells for him.
Arbie: LOUISSSSSSSS
Louis: What Arb?
So now Arbie Yells LOUISSS, does not wait for a reply,
just says "What Arb"!
Jo has made the sinful mistake of saying "Damn" one too many
times. Well Old Jabber Box picked that one up in a
hurry and is at the present time, probably his most favorite
word. Suppose that would be cuz he KNOWS he should not
be saying it. Jo tells him to stop swearing, so I'm sure it
will just be a matter of another day or so before he is
telling Jo to stop swearing!

Boo's Mom and Dad will be here in
another month from Goose Bay to pick him up for his trip
home. Due to not being able to get a hahns
shipped into Goose Bay in the winter, and means these folks
are coming this way in August anyway, Boo has lived out the
first 8 months of his life with us. We are now
preparing him by taking him outside in his Adventure Carrier
and trips in the van in his carrier. He loves these
trips. Soon we have to get pictures. Just a
going concern this boy is. Most birds will rest with
thier foot up, tucked into their belly. Not Boo.
Right from a baby, he has always rested with his foot tucked
up under his chin!! Too funny.

The new AvianSun™ Deluxe Floor Lamp from Zoo Med allows
bird keepers to provide their birds with true full spectrum
light, including UVB and UVA, just like they get in nature! This
floor lamp is designed for use with Zoo Med's new AvianSun™ 5.0
UVB Compact Fluorescent Bulb. This unique lighting arrangement
will provide birds with safe levels of beneficial UVB and UVA
for physical and psychological health. UVB enables birds to
synthesize vitamin D3 for proper calcium metabolism which is
necessary for normal growth, maintenance of strong bones, and
egg production. UVA is visible to birds, enabling them to
recognize mates, locate food, and identify different species.
Without UVA, birds are essentially colorblind! The floor lamp is
fully adjustable, and includes a built in reflector for maximum
light output.

The new AvianSun™ 5.0 UVB Compact Fluorescent Bulb from Zoo Med is the
first true full spectrum bulb specifically for birds, that
provides visible light, UVA, and UVB. This bulb is designed for
use with Zoo Med's new AvianSun™ Deluxe Floor-Lamp. This unique
lighting arrangement will provide birds with safe levels of
beneficial UVB and UVA for physical and psychological health.
UVB enables birds to synthesize vitamin D3 for proper calcium
metabolism which is necessary for normal growth, maintenance of
strong bones, and egg production. UVA is visible to birds,
enabling them to recognize mates, locate food, and identify
different species. Without UVA, birds are essentially
colorblind! Give your birds Zoo Med's AvianSun lighting and
bring the sun indoors!

JUNE Brings Tiny Rascals
4 Orange Belly Senegal Babies
(2 reserved - 2 available),
4 Lovebird babies (3 reserved - 1
available) and 2
Linnie babies (1 reserved - 1 available).
We are now feeding and watching them all grow in leaps
and bounds! Senegals have advanced to having the
whole brooder to bounce around in. This is the
month that our Hahns always get into gear, so if they
perform true to form, next month our brooders will be
filled to the rafters with hahns. We actually
thought we were going to pull a fast one on them
and gave them back their nest boxes early. We were
sort of hoping they would go to nest early, so we might
get some time off in the fall. Well that ain't
gonna happen. So far they are sticking with their
regular routine, who the heck am I to think I am
going to change it on them!! LOL
